Abstract - Organization of martial arts and combat sports in Slovakia
The authors applied the humanistic, qualitative methodology for description of organizational situation and state of institutionalization of the Far-Eastern martial arts and combat sports in Slovakia. They based their work on direct interviews with leaders of individual associations mainly.
The organizational structure of the most popular in this country martial arts (especially the judo, karate and aikido) was described in the article as well as the brief historical sketch relating to the development of the Far-Eastern martial arts and combat sports in Slovakia. In conclusion the authors emphasize both dissemination of martial arts, and their commercialization.
