Abstract - Book review: military and physical culture in the Lechitic lands
Problem. For over a hundred years, a scholarly dispute has raged between proponents of the allochthonous and autochthonous theories of Slavic presence in present-day Poland. Furthermore, there has been no reflection on the functioning of early Slavs from the perspective of the history of physical culture and hoplology.
Method. This is a review article on the recently published book entitled “About military and physical culture in the lands of Lechia – hoplological essays.”
Results. Wojciech J. Cynarski, the author of the book discussed here, presents the results of his research, addressing the issues outlined above.
Conclusions. The scientific results of this interdisciplinary research fully deserve dissemination. In addition to their cognitive value, they may yield other benefits, crucial for shaping a military identity in the physical culture of Poles and their Lechitic ancestors.
