Abstract - Conditions for the ethics of conscience – not for moral nihilism codes

The study presents the idea of how ethics and philosophy influence the moral culture of a given period. The changes may be represented by postmodernism and other philosophical trends and historical ethics such as inter alia: existentialism and phenomenology. Postmodernism, however, probably against its intentions "reflects" the state and dynamics of a moral reality of the world not sufficiently enough, while other trends try to do it in a variety of ways, not always successfully. To prove his hypothesis, the author makes a brief confrontation of thoughts and ethical intentions of these trends with a practical and moral reality.
Results and conclusions: In the light of social sciences and observations it may be concluded that postmodernism with its globalization, technical progress, consumerism, pragmatism, influence of mass media and overall acceleration of different spheres of life lead to changes in conscience and the existence of human beings in their ethical conscience and morality. There is a visible crisis in morality as moral progress does not follow the progress of technology. The author describes also the role of ethics, which is an integral part of human conscience defending mankind against all moral crises.
