Abstract - Hollands’ primacy in the world of K-1 kick-boxing organization

The aim of the conducted research is to explain a phenomenon lasting for many years of Holland’s primacy in kick-boxing on
the basis of K-1 competition.
Methods which were used included:
1) content analysis of the subject-related literature and specialists’ opinions;
2) analysis
of video recordings content from the master tournaments;
3) historical analysis and deduction.
Results and conclusion: The phenomenon of the long primacy of the Dutch in world’s kick-boxing can be explained by a group of factors:
1) an effective use of scientific knowledge about sports;
2) successful synthesis of foreign achievements, Thai and Japanese in particular;
3) proper teaching of tactics and combat techniques (kicks, boxing technique);
4) along tradition of rivalry and confrontation in sports connected with kicking- from the contact in kyokushin karate to contemporary K-1, which success promotes popularity. Not to be overlooked are the physical conditions of the Dutch contestants, who are usually much better than their Asian opponents in the heaviest weight categories.
