Abstract - The "Sprint Versus Endurance" test in estimating effort predispositions of people training karate

The appearance of martial arts in Europe has create a need for some transformation. Karate belongs to the group of forms physical activity which has not long tradition and comes from the distant circle of Asiatic culture called also Far East. Japanese karate and jujitsu have found it necessary to change. The martial arts are departing from the original model in order to face a new reality. Martial arts have entered the world of sports. The search for the optimal preparation of competitors for effective sport rivalry in karate has paid attention to evaluation of effort preparation.
The purpose of this research was to evaluate the effort preparation of a person training karate who is characterised by a different level of technical advance. Obtained results show that there are not significant differences in specific speed or endurance preparation. Karate belongs to a group of endurance-speed effort sports.
