Abstract - Quantitative and Semantic Analysis of English Sport-Connected Loan-Words in Polish
The paper discusses the position of English sport-connected loanwords in Polish. An attempt of the analysis of the semantic field of sport as well as the application of the techniques of decomposition analysis of the above-mentioned semantic field allowed for the discovering of a number of scientifically salient items in regard to the position and the functioning of such loanwords in Polish. The analysis revealed the existence of a number of relevant features that add to the formation of this and other semantic fields in a national lexicon.
